Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates

I go to the cinema a lot, sometimes it is to see award winning films, sometimes it is to see something different and sometimes I go just to have a bit of fun and not take life to seriously. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates stars Zac Efron and Adam Devine as two guys who need to find dates to bring to their sisters wedding but the are the girls they find all that they say they are.

Two hard-partying brothers place an online ad to find the perfect dates for their sister’s Hawaiian wedding. Hoping for a wild getaway, the boys instead find themselves out-hustled by an uncontrollable duo.

The Girls

After showing how easy it can be for things to go viral the guys end up meeting several ladies but none of them work out. Enter Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza) who lie about who they are in order to be taken to the wedding in Hawaii. Much like Mike and Dave these girls also have there own issues to deal with, especially Alice who is still dealing with being left at the altar.

Naturally this leads to lots of hi-jinks and hilarious set pieces throughout the film. The Quad-bike scene from the trailer was pretty cool and really helped to drive the conflict between each of the main four protagonists. Each one had there own thing going on which was cool but it meant that there wasn’t enough time to focus on any one storyline in particular which is a shame as it could have made for a much more interesting film.

The guys

Also the conflict between the characters could be seen coming from a mile off but when it comes to films such as this it didn’t really take away from the whole experience to much. What I liked about this film was that I was able to have a bit of laugh, the characters all had some great moments and the runtime was only 98 minuets. It may not be the most intelligent film ever but that is not always a bad thing.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates gives you a few laughs and some alright performances from some decent film stars. It is not a film that will be on anyone’s best of the year list but if you are looking for a bit of fun and something that doesn’t take itself to seriously then you might want to take a look at this film.
